Here at Lonza we have an exciting opening for an experienced Head of Process Development to join our ground breaking team in Maastricht/Geleen on a permanent full time basis. Maastricht/Geleen is Lonza’s center of excellence in Europe, in Cell and Gene therpay field (Advaced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs)), accomoodating manufactruing of drug products for both autologous and allogeneic therpay approaches from phase I up to commercial phase.

Highly experienced in development of manufacturing processes and/or analytical methods for the production of cell and gene therapy products.
Extensive managerial and leadership experience with supervising and providing guidance to a large group of highly technical and scientific group of subject matter experts.
Good understanding of technical challenges and potential solutions for development of clinical and commercial manufacturing processes, preferably for cell and gene therapy applications.
Be able to offer both scientific and management guidance in the design and execution of new or unique cell and gene therapy projects.
Be able to manage team resources using established systems, ensures close collaboration between process development and assay development teams, support cross-training, and seamless delivery of department goals.
Delivery of services in this role will include, but not be limited to:

Leads a team of ~ 25 managers, scientists and research associates focused on the development of manufacturing process and analytical methods for cell & gene therapy applications.
Maintains constant emphasis on safety and ensures a safe working environment for self and others.
Owns the development lifecycle for multiple projects in parallel.
Drives scope definition and experimental design of process development and bioassay development activities through respective project leaders; aligns goals of the projects with overall project plan including process development, tech transfer to QC and manufacturing (MFG); obtains buy-in f
