As an Engineer Mechanical Equipment you are responsible for setting up functional equipment designs based on client specifications. You are capable of seeing the bigger picture and know what impact your equipment design can have on the structure of ships and offshore structures. In the beginning of the projects you are in contact with the client to specify their idea and questions. With the information of the designer and lead engineer, you know how to make a detailed design and answer to standards and regulations. Tasks Engineer Mechanical Equipment -Design functional concepts based on client information and requirements -Making (hand) calculations, strength calculations, drive specifications etc. for all types of heavy equipment -Preparing your designs and concepts with 3D software like Solid Edge, from concept to detail -Guiding jr. designers and engineers during projects -Discuss progress with your clients Your experience -Bachelor or University level in Mechanical Engineering or comparable -Five to ten years of experience in designing heavy (offshore) equipment -Experienced with 3D CAD software like Solid Edge -Experience with defining and specifying client questions -Able to guide jr. designers and engineers.
