Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam is currently looking for a designer mechanical equipment for their mechanical department. As a designer youll be working on concepts and designs within a project team and work together with other disciplines. You will be responsible for all kind of calculations like hand-, FEM- and excel calculations for heavy equipment on different types of vessels. Based on client information you can estimate the amount of hours for the project, set up the concepts and designs, make calculations and guide junior designers and engineers during the project. Within your designs and concepts youll have a good eye for practical solutions regarding fabrication, maintenance and daily use. Occasionally youll have contact with clients to discuss progress and if necessary youll be on location for work. Tasks Designer Mechanical Equipment -Responsible for concept and design of mechanical equipment within a project team -Estimate budget and hours for tendering on projects -Making hand-, fem-, and excel calculations with software like Ansys (Workbench) -Making concept design models with CAD software Autocad and Solid Edge based on your calculations -Checking calculations and designs according to rules and regulations like Lloyds or Bureau Veritas -Discuss progress with your clients Your experience -Bachelor or University level in Mechanical Engineering or comparable -Five to ten years of experience within equipment design and concepts -Experience with FEM and design software, preferably Ansys and Solid Edge -Experience with strength calculations, hand calculations, mechanics -Able to work within a project team but also work independently Company info Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam B.V. services the maritime industry with integrated design and engineering packages.
