The Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) is a member-led worldwide network of civil society organisations active in the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The GPPAC Foundation in The Hague fulfils the task of Global Secretariat for GPPAC. The Online Communications Specialist will be part of the Communications and Information Management (CIM) team. The responsibilities of the team include: -defining and implementing the GPPAC Global Secretariat’s communications strategy; -supporting the public outreach activities of different projects; -advising management on IT solutions; -managing the Peace Portal and delivering online services to the network and external partners. Communications - Develop, maintain and update online content for the GPPAC website, the social media platforms and the bi-monthly newsletter. - Coordinate input for content production with programme staff and the GPPAC network. - Coordinate website development, customize communities and other Peace Portal functionalities. - Prepare functional specifications for software developers. Have a day-to-day relationship with technical providers and other technical services supporting the Peace Portal. - Research different Internet usage and technical possibilities to support the further development of the GPPAC’s online communications and the Peace Portal. - Monitor web analytics and trends, and evaluate and propose improvements to increase the reach out of GPPAC’s work. - Support production of materials and tools that contribute to the visibility of GPPAC. IT - Responsible for monitoring and improving GPPAC’s IT solution, including evaluation of adoption of new tools and their integration with the current IT solution (Google Apps for Business). - Liaise with external technical providers and services supporting GPPAC online platforms and in-house IT infrastructure. - Contribute to the documentation and the administrative manual of the Peace Portal and the IT manual. - Prepare training materials and conduct training on Peace Portal use and GPPAC IT solutions for GPPAC staff, GPPAC network members and online partners. - Maintain the help desk function. Requirements - Advanced education or university degree in Communications / IT - Tech-savvy, with knowledge of Internet design and Portal technologies (preferably including LifeRay). - Knowledge of graphic design (Photoshop and InDesign). -At least three years of relevant work experience with online marketing, social media, communications and functional development of web applications. - An interest in issues of conflict prevention and peacebuilding - Excellent organisational, writing and communication skills - Accurate, independent, flexible, capable to work in a cross cultural environment and under stress - The applicant must have a valid permit for working in the Netherlands.
